“SAMARA” BRIDGE TIGRIS RIVER, IRAQ

"Samara" Bridge is the largest structure on the Baghdad-Mouse highway and lays approx. 100 km north of Baghdad. The Project comprises 5 bridges, the longest being 1270 m with 32 spans, 40 m each. The Contract also provided for the construction of 15 km access road. The bridge structure was constructed with 80 t pre-stressed reinforced beams. The foundation works were carried out in extremely difficult soil conditions.
